Engaging with Sanskrit Textual Traditions
Engaging with Sanskrit Textual Traditions
This project examines how the western understanding of the world was helpful for them to freeze the meaning of some words or idea of the society through dictionary making, translation and then subsequently the same process became a standard way for developing any understanding of India by both European and Indian scholars and gradually it became a kind of common sense about Indian society. This project also attempts to take the knowledge produced in different domains of Sanskrit and collaborate with the contemporary Social Sciences to have a greater understanding of Indian society in the backdrop of cultural difference. This also marks the beginning of providing the descriptions of Indian society alternatively through the textual resources.
