Praveen Srinivas holds a master’s in Development. His study critiques the historical sociology of education in India, which often promotes colonial-era stereotypes about Indian learning, such as the problem of rote learning. It argues that such views lack empirical or theoretical grounding and stem from problem internal to European culture. The project examines colonial education, including Dharampal’s work, to reconstruct ideas of pedagogy and learning rooted in Indian contexts.
