Rohith Krishnan holds master’s degrees in Rural Development and also History. His research work is around traditional local governance in India, focusing on Panchayats. His work critically examines debates around their origins - highlighting Dharampal’s study that shows modern Panchayats were shaped under colonial rule. The study aims to develop an alternative theoretical framework to talk about local self-governance in India.
